What to Wear for a Boudoir Session?

My Boudoir Session is Coming Up - What Do I Wear?

You’ve decided to invest in yourself, take a leap of faith and commit to doing a boudoir session. Congrats! Let’s talk about the next step. What to wear. The answer is all about self-expression. Think about how you want to look and how sexy you want to feel. What does that mean to you personally?

In this blog, we will cover some of the most common things to wear, and throw in a few less thought of ideas. Let’s get started:

Variety is the spice of life. In order to have a successful shoot, you will want to bring many different options with you. We may not get to all of them, but it never hurts to have extra outfits on hand.

BOUDOIR OUTFITS TO HAVE ON HAND:

  • If you are wanting to start more conservative, may we suggest a one-piece bodysuit, teddy, and oversized sweater.

  • If you want to be a little more revealing may we suggest a two-piece set (bra/undies, high-waisted skirt/bra, garter belt set/bra/stockings). Traditionally, most mainstream boudoir photos are in this genre.

  • Some fun things to play with: Cover up wrap/shawl/cardigan/off shoulder shirt

  • Sports themes: Many women who are doing their shoots for a significant other like to bring in sports jerseys. These can be fun and sexy to photograph. He will definitely enjoy it!

  • Themes: Some women enjoy costume boudoir. A little naughty Christmas outfit, a police officer outfit, and the list goes on. This is one to really have fun with!

  • Extra bling; Jewels, accessories, high heels,

  • Wear nothing… Yup NUDE… You will look amazing and feel liberated, empowered, and fierce.

GROOMING TIPS: Things to do before your shoot:

  • Treat yourself to a manicure and pedicure. Having your nails done always complements the photograph.

  • Wax at least 5 days before your shoot. Waxing or shaving causes skin irritation. Make sure to give yourself a few days to heal.

  • Hydrate. Your skin will have a nice glow effect when you are hydrated, and you will have more energy and feel great during your shoot.

  • AVOID drinking alcohol before your shoot. We understand that you will likely be a little nervous, but we promise that will wear off quickly. Bloodshot eyes however don’t wear off and it is very difficult to get rid of in photo processing.

OUTFIT TIPS: Here are some absolute musts with your outfit selections.

  • Remove all tags from your clothing and make sure your garments are free from wrinkles.

  • Invest in a well-fitting bra and panty set. Black is the number one color to go with. Not only does black photography well, but it also makes you feel super sexy.

  • Do NOT wear anything that is too small. Way too often we see women who want to appear as if they have huge boobs and wear really small bras, way too tight. Sorry ladies… This isn’t the way to go. We do however have posing suggestions for you and use flattering light to make every curve amazing!
